We Have a Climate Problem.
I consult on environmental sustainability and resiliency to minimize the risk of your public or private entity.
Climate change threatens every part of the planet. It’s a global problem that requires global cooperation.
Is your organization based on the assumption of planetary stability that we’ve seen in the last 12,000 years?
If so, you and your entity may be at higher risk when the carbon and infrastructure bubbles pop.
How can I assist you?
Strategic Planning
Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories
Calculate your Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions to disclose publicly, set science-based emission reduction targets, and highlight GHG intensive processes. Methods for calculation are in accordance with the GHG Protocol, GRI, and ISO 14064
Climate and Resiliency Action Plans
Plan and strategize for your organization to reach carbon neutrality and to implement a more sustainable means of business. Resiliency plans further address the risks that climate catastrophe poses to your organization and the steps needed to reduce risks to your company and the communities you serve.
Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessments
Identify the most relevant consequences of global warming for your organization and its stakeholders.
"The IPCC reports also tend toward reticence and caution, erring on the side of "least drama," and downplaying the more extreme and more damaging outcomes. While this has been understandable historically, given the pressure exerted upon the IPCC by political and vested interests, it is now becoming dangerously misleading with the acceleration of climate impacts globally. What were lower probability, higher-impact events are now becoming more likely." - Breakthrough, National Centre for Climate Restoration, Australia
Whole-System Solutions
Understand how your organization is interconnected with Earth-systems, economic models, and social structures. Rethink your organization's role in the climate crisis to serve people and the planet best and become a leader in your industry.
Business-As-Usual vs. "What If" Scenario Modeling
Forecast your business model to see your CO2 emissions if business-as-usual continues or the changes that can be estimated in "What if" scenarios. Ex: what if we invested in solar PV panels to offset the CO2 emissions associated with our employees' commute? Modeling these scenarios will illuminate the feasibility of different mitigation strategies to reach carbon neutrality or the implications of a new climate policy.
Cost-Effective GHG Emission Reduction Strategies
Discover the tried and true carbon emission reduction strategies and the initial investment needed, and their return on investments. This is best for communicating the value of incorporating sustainability into a company's business model with the C-Suite level that is typically focused on quarterly profits and positive stock returns.
Grants and Guaranteed Government Loans*
Find out if you or you're entity is eligible for a grant or guaranteed loan from the US government. The EPA and USDA have millions of dollars ready to stimulate and scale up energy-efficiency projects, renewable energy projects, and bio-based products. Grants match the scale of an entity’s investment, with most projects being able to secure a guaranteed loan of 25% of the total investment. Loans can range from $1,000- $250,000, depending on the program. We can help identify whether your entity matches one of these loan programs, if so, we have the ability to prepare the application and technical review on your behalf to provide the best probability of getting approved for the loan.
*We do not guarantee that your entity will receive approval for a guaranteed government loan. USA only.
Life Cycle Assessment
Investigate a product's environmental impact over its entire lifespan ("cradle-to-grave"). LCA is excellent for understanding the differences between two products that have the same function. For example, is it better to use paper towels to dry your hands or an air dryer when you wash your hands? The answer: It depends on the source material of the paper towels or what fuel(renewable vs. fossil) is used to generate electricity. (The actual answer is neither; wipe them on your pants!)
Vet Sustainability Claims
Are you unsure if a company has misleading sustainability claims? Otherwise known as Greenwashing, it’s much easier to make net-zero goals or make false claims about a company’s strategies and products being sustainable without actually doing anything. There are compromised interests to continue doing the unsustainable because it’s cheaper and easier. I can easily spot a company bullshitting the public or you. Sometimes a company is so new to sustainability they don’t even know that their business is bad for the planet. I see it every day. Don’t waste your time or money, get a trained eye to protect your entity.

“We see global warming not as an inevitability but as an invitation to build, innovate, and effect change, a pathway that awakens creativity, compassion, and genius. This is not a liberal agenda, nor is it a conservative one.
This is the human agenda.”
